a good time to start looking around, and even eight months beforehand
you should be keeping an eye on airfares to where you want to

airfares. Also pay attention to airports near your
destination. For example, instead of planning a trip to
Cuernavaca, look at planning a trip to somewhere in Mexico.
There’s a good chance you’ll be able to make
cheaper travel arrangements if both your location and date of departure
are flexible.

available carriers to your destination city. Don’t
just shop at the big airlines; take a look at some of the smaller
charter airlines. Though you may not have as many options to
use your frequent flier miles or be offered as many departure options,

minute. However, these fares are by no means a sure thing,
and waiting until the last minute can leave you paying three or four
times what you would have paid for the same ticket a few months
earlier. The last resort for cheap air travel is to buy a
stand-by ticket. This is a popular option for students who
are scrounging for spring break tickets on a budget and can get you
some great deals, but it can also leave you hanging around the airport,
waiting for a flight for days.
